APAR: iNotes user can not send a mail with an attachment file when the
size of database is over quota.
Error description:
iNotes user can not send a mail with an attachment file when the size of database is over quota.
Domino administrator adds the following parameter to notes.ini.

Steps to Reproduce:
- Domino administrator add iNotes_wa_Ignore_Quota=1 parameter to notes.ini.
- Set shorter database quota than current size in the DWA mail database (If the size of your mail database is 20MB, set 25MB in database quota).
- Set “Deliver anyway (don’t obey quotas)” in server configuration document – [Router/SMTP] – [Restriction and Controls] – [Delivery controls] – [over quota enforcement].
- Open iNotes and log in.
- Set “Don’t keep a copy” in iNotes Preferences – [Mail] – [General] – [Save sent mail], and save a preference.
- Create new mail and attach a attachment file.
- Send a mail.
Result: Following error message was displayed.
“Unable to write to database because database would exceed its disk quota.”

Security Bulletin: IBM Lotus Notes & Domino affected by vulnerabilities in IBM JRE (CVE-2012-4820, CVE-2012-4821, CVE-2012-4822, CVE-2012-4823)
Abstract:
IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Lotus Domino are vulnerable to four Java exploits where malicious agents, applets, or XPages applications can escalate privileges. These vulnerabilities are in the IBM Java SDK.
Content:
For information about the impact of this vulnerability on other affected IBM products, refer to this post on the Product Security Incident Reporting Team (PSIRT) blog.
VULNERABILITY DETAILS:
CVE IDs: CVE-2012-4820, CVE-2012-4821, CVE-2012-4822, CVE-2012-4823
Description:
There are a number of vulnerabilities in the IBM Java SDK versions that affect various components (ORB, XML and JMX). The vulnerabilities allow code running under a security manager to escalate its privileges by modifying or removing the security manager. Some of the issues need to be combined in sequence to achieve an exploit.
An attacker could persuade a user into running Java code from an untrusted, malicious source resulting in privilege escalation. The attacker must convince the Notes user to click on a malicious Notes:// URL which, in turn, runs a Java agent, applet or XPages application. The attack against the Domino server can be exploited only by an authenticated user with the rights to run LotusScript or Java agents on the server.
Affected Plattform: Lotus Notes 8.0.X, 8.5, 8.5.X, 8.5.3 FP3
Fix : 8.5.3 FP3 or security patch

Teilnehmerfragen: Blank return receipts sent to external sendes / leere Empfangsbestätigung nach Upgrade auf 8.5.3
Problem:
When a return receipt is sent to an external user and disclaimers are enabled on the client or server, the return receipt does not include the return receipt body – only the disclaimer is included. This causes confusion with the sender and is thought to be SPAM.
Steps:
- Enable Return Receipts
- Enable message disclaimers
- Create and process a mail policy
- Send an external mail to a user who has the mail policy enabled
- Open the message in the user’s mailfile – a return receipt will be sent.
- View the message from the external source. Only the disclaimer is present.
Symptom:
Return receipts sent to an external recipient show a blank body.Return receipts sent to an external recipient show a blank body.
Cause:
This has been identified as a product defect under APAR LO65112 and SPR TPON8N7DKT. The issue started in 8.5.3 and occurs when there is a mail policy present. The disclaimer portion of the policy does not actually have to contain any text but the problem will still occur if the disclaimers are enabled in the configuration document under the Router/SMTP>Message Disclaimers tab.
Environment:
Domino 8.5.3
Diagnosing the problem:
A meeting invitee is able to cancel a meeting for everyone.
Resolving the problem:
Issue has been resolved in 8.5.3 FP2. The current workaround is disabling the disclaimer.

Neue Funktion in Lotus Notes 8.5.3 – ”unerwünschte” Adressen für Schnelladressierung ausblenden
Neue Funktion:

New feature:
When a bad address is in general use, it keeps getting re-added to your recent contacts. To prevent this, mark the Recent Contact as “Hide in Typeahead” instead of deleting. When a Recent Contact record is marked as “Hide In Typeahead” it is ignored by typeahead and Send. Processing new mail with this address will not change this contact. Opening a Non Delivery Report with status failure, will also mark a Recent Contact as “Hide In Typeahead”.

alternative to deleting unwanted recent contacts

- Notes Standard-Client >= 8.5.3
- pernames.ntf >= Version 8.5.3

Unexpected desktop settings applied to User Preferences after policy document re-save
Problem:
You upgrade your Lotus Domino server and the NAMES.NSF (NAB) from 8.5.2 to 8.5.3. Your Notes clients are 7.0.3. You change the name of a policy and re-save the policy document. Some unexpected changes will be seen in the client User Preferences.
Example:
“Mail file location” is changed from server (default) to local
“Replication interval” is changed to 60 minutes (both for normal and high priority)
Other possible settings also affected are “Internet browser” in location document and “recipient name lookup”
Resolving the problem:
Due to an SPR fix in the 8.5.3 codestream, there is a regression that will affect policies with pre-8.0 clients. The effect of the regression is that policy settings will be in place for pre-8.0 clients that should not be. 8.0 and later clients are not affected.
Follow these steps to back out the settings causing this regression:
- Open pubnames.ntf in the Domino Designer
- Open the PolicyManagement script library
- Click on the ComputeHAItemList subroutine
—————

—————
- Find the following lines of code:’ Set itemToDelete = hPolicy.GetFirstItem(pRefItemName)
‘ If Not itemToDelete Is Nothing Then
‘ itemToDelete.SaveToDisk = False
‘ End If
Uncomment these lines of code (remove the ‘ character at the beginning of each line)
- save the subroutine
- Replace the design of your names.nsf with this version of pubnames.ntf
- Edit and re-save any Policy Settings documents that have the issue
