Problem:

Users cannot process or open meeting invites sent from Lotus Notes. They receive 2 .ics attachments and one is named “not supported calendar message.ics”

Symptom:

Outlook users can’t accept meeting invite from Notes users

Per Microsoft’s article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2643084:

“The “not supported calendar message.ics” attachment is created when the original .ics file cannot be converted to an Outlook or Microsoft Exchange meeting type. The conversion fails if one or more of the following conditions are true:1.The meeting contains a recurrence pattern that is available to a third-party email client, such as Lotus Notes. However, this recurrence pattern is not supported by Outlook:

1. Monthly by Date: Every month on the nth day and the nth day. Outlook only supports one nth day of the month.
2. Monthly by Day: Every month on the nth day of the week and the nth day of the week. Outlook only supports one nth day of the week in any month.
3. Custom recurrence: Outlook does not support custom recurrence patterns that are available in some third-party email clients, such as Lotus Notes.

Also, if the meeting contains a recurrence pattern that is defined by the RDATE property. However, the meeting does not include a corresponding RRULE property. In this case, Outlook does not open the item, even if the RDATE property specifies a supported recurrence pattern”

• Der Kompatibilitätsmodus verhindert den Datenverlust bei wiederkehrenden Besprechungen für Benutzer anderer E-Mail-Anwendungen als Lotus Notes, die Einladungen mit Notes-Benutzern austauschen.
• Die Client-Erkennung und die Domänenzuordnung ermöglichen dem Domino-Administrator, über die Mailrichtlinie E-Mail-Anwendungen den Domänen in der Organisation zuzuordnen und die Interoperabilität der Kalenderfunktionen der einzelnen Anwendungen anzugeben.

Aufgrund der Unterschiede in der Architektur für wiederkehrende Besprechungen können einige der komplexen Aktionen für wiederkehrende Besprechungen in Notes von Outlook/Exchange und anderen E-Mail-Anwendungen nicht interpretiert werden. Um derartige Situation zu vermeiden, kann Notes die zulässigen Aktionen für wiederkehrende Besprechungen mithilfe des Kompatibilitätsmodus, der Client-Erkennung und der Domänenzuordnung handhaben.

Im Kompatibilitätsmodus müssen die Benutzer die Option “Nur dieser Eintrag” im Dialogfeld “Wiederkehrenden Eintrag ändern” auswählen und die Option Einige der eingeladenen Personen nutzen andere Mailprogramme aktiviert lassen.

Rescheduling, updating, or canceling more than one instance of a meeting at a time  

While Outlook/Exchange supports repeating meeting rescheduling generally, they do not support rescheduling multiple instances, which is how Notes sends out a reschedule of all instances.

Specifies the behavior of the “Some invitees use other mail programs” option in repeating meetings. Use this notes.ini variable to show the option, change the default value, or lock the option on for all meetings.

• 0 – Option is hidden and off for all meetings created on that client.
• 1 – Option is hidden and defaults to on for all meetings created on that client. The chair cannot see the option nor make any changes to it.
• 2 – Option is displayed and defaults to off for all meetings created on that client. The meeting chair can use the option to set whether it is on or off for each meeting created. The chair can also update the selection later to turn the option on or off at that time.
• 3 – Option is displayed but is locked on for all meetings.

Problem:

An invitee to a meeting who uses Microsoft Outlook is able to become the chair of a meeting originating from a Notes user. Once the Outlook user becomes the chair, they may cancel the meeting.

Symptom:

Meetings are cancelled by invitees who received iCal invitations from Lotus Notes users. These users are using Microsoft Outlook/Exchange.

Cause: 

This appears to be caused by a known issue involving Active sync and handheld devices. Microsoft document http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324 outlines the issue.

Environment: 

Any Lotus Notes environment. Exchange environment is unknown.

Diagnosing the problem: 

A meeting invitee is able to cancel a meeting for everyone.

Resolving the problem: 

There is no solution that may be offered from IBM. If you are seeing this issue, please contact Microsoft for additional assistance.

Problem:

Meeting invitation from Outlook / Exchange to Notes invitee appears in the user’s Inbox as a plain email.

Symptom:

iCalendar invitation converted into a memo.
CauseIn this case, it was found that the Outlook / Exchange chair had the Notes user’s address saved in Contacts. IBM cannot determine why this would have such an affect. Please contact Microsoft for more information

Resolving the problem:

Have the Outlook/Exchange chair check their Contacts for an entry (or entries) for the Notes invitee and remove them. Send new invitation to see if issue reproduces. In this instance, the chair had a saved contact for the user that caused the problem. Once it was removed, the user received the invitation as normal and was able to accept or decline the invite as expected.

For information as to why a local contact in Outlook would cause a calendar invite to route out as a normal email, please contact Microsoft and report the problem.

Another cause for this issue is when Outlook users set up email to be sent in Rich Text format. Have the Outlook user change to plain text. This can be set on the contact document for each person in their address book.

Wenn eine Besprechung geändert wurde und der eingeladene Teilnehmer die aktualisierte Besprechungsanfrage auf einem BlackBerry Handheld annimmt, sendet das BlackBerry Handheld  unter bestimmten Umständen keine Benachrichtigung, dass der eingeladene Teilnehmer die Einladung zur Besprechung angenommen hat.

Unter bestimmten Umständen werden Änderungen, die mithilfe des BlackBerry Handheld an einer Nachricht einer Besprechungsserie vorgenommen werden, nicht mit dem Kalender in Lotus Notes synchronisiert.

Wenn der BlackBerry Enterprise Server einen Kalendereintrag, der viele Attachments enthält, für eine große Anzahl von Benutzern verarbeitet, reagiert der BlackBerry Enterprise Server unter Umständen nicht mehr.

Wenn in einer Besprechungsserie in einer zukünftigen Besprechung der Serie ein Benutzer hinzufügt und der Benutzer
die Besprechungseinladung auf einem BlackBerry-Gerät annimmt, zeigt das BlackBerry Handheld nur vergangene Besprechungen der Serie an.
Workaround: Deaktivieren  “calendar ghosting”.

Unter bestimmten Umständen werden Antworten auf Besprechungseinladungen vor der Kalenderanfrage an das BlackBerry Handheld gesendet.

Wenn Benutzer eine Mailtemplate 8.0 verwenden, synchronisieren BlackBerry Handheld keine stornierten Kalendereinträge.
Workaround: Deaktivieren Option “Remove from Calendar”.

Wenn ein Benutzer viele Dokumente aus seinen Adressbuch oder Jornal in seine Maildatenbank synchronisiert, kann der Abgleich dieser Dokumente mit seinem BlackBerry Handheld eine lange Zeit in Anspruch nehmen.
Workaround: separate Datenbanken für Adressbuch und Journal verwenden.

Wenn eine Besprechung mithilfe eines BlackBerry Handheld angenommen wird, wird der Besprechungsstatus im Kalender unter bestimmten Umständen nicht für alle Teilnehmer aktualisiert.

Wenn die Option “Neue (nicht verarbeitete) Benachrichtigungen anzeigen” auf dem BlackBerry Handheld aktiviert ist, kann der Benutzer ein geändertes Kalenderereignis unter bestimmten Umständen nicht annehmen.
