[tip]8.5.x Notes Client crashes related to Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 [/tip]

Problem:

Random Notes client crashes no Notes 8.5.x after IE 9 upgrade

Symptom:

Client Crash

Cause: 

Customers who are using Notes 8.5.x on Windows 7 and have the Notes Preference “ Use the Browser that I have set as default for the Operating System“, can experience random client crashes.

We have traces this issue back to IE9, the crash only happens when IE9 is set as the default Browser for the OS . Other browsers are not affected.

Analysis shows that the crash is caused by an Microsoft OS dll „d2d1.dll “

Environment: 

Domino 8.5.1, 8.5.2, 8.5.3

Resolving the problem: 

Microsoft have released two patches , one for Win 7 and one for Win 7 SP1 .
